Khayelitsha comes together to build stronger businesses.
On 9 July 2026, the Khayelitsha CBD Multi-Purpose Centre became a hub of learning, networking and opportunity as local entrepreneurs gathered for the Hello Khayelitsha Business Workshop, hosted by Altron FinTech.
The event brought together spaza shop owners, informal traders, general dealers and small business owners who all shared one goal: finding practical ways to grow and strengthen their businesses.
Throughout the day, attendees engaged in interactive discussions on financial literacy, improving cash flow, managing collections and embracing digital payment solutions that can help businesses operate more efficiently. The workshop also created valuable opportunities for entrepreneurs to connect with one another, exchange ideas and build relationships within the local business community.
The event was the culmination of a week-long community engagement campaign, with the Altron FinTech Kasi Sales Squad visiting local businesses and engaging directly with kasipreneurs across Khayelitsha. Support from community radio stations helped spread the message, encouraging business owners to take advantage of the free workshop and its practical insights.
More than just a workshop, the initiative reinforced the importance of meeting kasipreneurs where they do business. By bringing practical knowledge, digital solutions and industry expertise directly into township communities, Altron FinTech continues to support the growth of South Africa’s township economy and empower kasipreneurs with the tools they need to thrive.
As conversations continued long after the final session, one thing was clear: the future of township business is built through collaboration, education and access to the right opportunities. Khayelitsha demonstrated once again that when communities invest in local entrepreneurs, everyone benefits.
